I sometimes use photoshop elements for easy modifications. But if you are into shooting pictures and editing it. You can also try photoshop lightroom.
If you are not into photoshop or this sorts of things. There are a lot of softwares out there in the internet. Many of them are free. Before I used Google Picasa.
